This article explains the EV charging station (EVCS)-specific settings available in the XENON Dashboard that apply across all features.
What EVCS-specific settings can I configure?
The following settings can be configured per EVCS in the XENON Dashboard:
Priority charging
Maximum charging power limit
EVSE-ID
These settings apply regardless of whether Dynamic Load Management (DLM) or Static Load Management (SLM) is active.
How do I enable priority charging for an EVCS?
Priority charging ensures a specific EVCS receives power up to its maximum charging capacity before non-prioritized stations.
How priority charging works:
Prioritized EVCS are curtailed last — only after all non-prioritized EVCS are curtailed
If multiple EVCS are prioritized and available power is still insufficient, power is distributed evenly among them
To activate priority charging:
In XENON, go to Charging Configuration
Click on the EVCS in the live charging view
Enable Priority charging for that EVCS
How do I set a maximum charging power limit for an EVCS?
A maximum charging power limit restricts how much power the Energy Management System (EMS) will allocate to a specific EVCS, regardless of available grid capacity.
In XENON, go to the Charge Configuration tab or the Live Charging Status tab
Select the EVCS
Set the Maximum Charging Power value
The EMS respects this limit at all times — even if the EV or the available grid power could support a higher value. Setting the maximum charging power is only required if the station should be actively limited. If active limitation is not required, the maximum power that the station can deliver will always be respected.
How does the HyperCharger handle maximum power?
HyperCharger (HYC) stations have special handling that differs from standard EVCS:
The maximum charging power configured for the /1 connector is distributed evenly across all EVs plugged in at that station
What is an EVSE-ID and how do I configure it?
The Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment ID (EVSE-ID) is a unique identifier used by Charge Point Operators (CPOs) to identify a specific charging station across platforms and tools. In XENON, the EVSE-ID field can be used to set any identifier for each charging station.
To configure the EVSE-ID in XENON:
Go to the Charging Config tab for the site
Locate the EVSE-ID field for the EVCS
Enter the identifier for the EVCS
Emergency shutdown
The Emergency Shutdown feature is deprecated and will not be available in the XENON Dashboard. To stop charging for a specific EVCS, set the maximum charging power to 0.
