This article introduces the Advanced Optimization product tier and the features it includes.
What is Advanced Optimization?
Advanced Optimization is the second product tier of the EVCI product. It builds on Standard Control and adds features that reduce energy costs and improve site efficiency.
Advanced Optimization includes three features:
Time-of-Use Optimization — shifts EV charging to time windows when electricity prices are lower
Battery (BESS) Optimization — uses on-site battery storage to expand effective charging capacity and reduce energy costs
User-based Prioritization — allocates charging power based on EV driver priority levels provided by a third-party system
What are the prerequisites for Advanced Optimization?
All Advanced Optimization features require the Energy Management System (EMS) enabled in the XENON Dashboard.
Additional requirements vary by feature:
Time-of-Use Optimization — requires a compatible electricity tariff provider integrated with the site
Battery (BESS) Optimization — requires a compatible large-scale battery asset integrated in XENON and a Dynamic Load Management (DLM)
User-based Prioritization — requires a third-party system that provides driver priority data via the gridX API
