Before you start

Before you begin, make sure:

The inverter is physically installed and powered on
You have the Solax pocket WiFi+LAN dongle
All assets (inverter, Solax pocket WiFi+LAN dongle) are updated to the latest software version

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Connect the inverter to the network

Plug the pocket WiFi+LAN dongle into terminal E on the inverter
Connect the dongle to your local network with an Ethernet cable
Verify the connection is established by checking the LED on the dongle or in the SolaXCloud app

2. Plug&Play discovery and configuration

This inverter supports Plug&Play, requiring no manual configuration. It is automatically detected during gateway commissioning and configured with the appropriate settings after connection.

3. Discover the inverter in the commissioning wizard

The inverter is now ready for the commissioning wizard. The gateway will scan the network to find available devices, which may take a few minutes. Once complete, the Solax X3 Ultra inverter will appear on the results page.

When the inverter is detected, in most cases set the asset type to Hybrid (PV and Battery) from the dropdown.

If you are using the inverter exclusively as a PV inverter, select PV System. If it is used solely as a battery inverter, choose Battery.

Country-specific configurations

Germany

Applies to PV installations exceeding 2 kWp installed after February 24, 2025.

No additional inverter configuration is required. The gateway controls the inverter directly (PV Limit), supporting energy management optimization.

Set the following Energy management setting in the commissioning wizard:

Allow optimisation: Yes
Grid feed-in limit controlled by inverter: No

FAQ

Why isn't the inverter appearing in the commissioning wizard?

Check that the pocket WiFi+LAN dongle is properly inserted into terminal E on the inverter and connected to your network with an Ethernet cable. Restart the gateway and wait for the network scan to complete.

How do I update the firmware of the inverter?

Download the latest firmware from the SolaX website or contact SolaX Service Support to obtain firmware files. The update is performed by inserting a USB stick into the inverter's upgrade port.
