Before you begin, make sure:
The inverter is physically installed and powered on
You have the GoodWe WIFI/LAN Kit-20 Cyber Security (serial number starts with 721XXXXXX)
All assets (inverter, GoodWe WIFI/LAN Kit-20) are updated to the latest software version
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Connect the inverter to the network
Connect the GoodWe WIFI/LAN Kit-20 to the inverter
Connect the kit to your local network via Ethernet cable
Verify the connection is established by checking the LED on the kit or in the SEMS+ app

2. Plug&Play discovery and configuration
This inverter supports Plug&Play, requiring no manual configuration. It is automatically detected during gateway commissioning and configured with the appropriate settings.
3. Discover the inverter in the commissioning wizard
The inverter is now ready for the commissioning wizard. The gateway will scan the network to find available devices, which may take a few minutes. Once complete, the GoodWe ET Series inverter will appear on the results page.
When the inverter is detected, in most cases set the asset type to Hybrid (PV and Battery) from the dropdown.
If you are using the inverter exclusively as a PV inverter, select PV System. If it is used solely as a battery inverter, choose Battery.

Applies to PV installations exceeding 2 kWp installed after February 24, 2025.

No additional inverter configuration is required. The inverter controls the grid feed-in limit directly (GCP Limit), supporting energy management optimization.

FAQ
Why isn't the inverter appearing in the commissioning wizard?
Check that you have the GoodWe Wi-Fi-LAN Kit 2.0 Cyber Security (June 2025 or later, serial number starts with 721XXXXXX). Verify it's connected via Ethernet and on the same network as the gateway. Restart the gateway and wait for the network scan to complete.
How do I update the firmware of the inverter?
You can perform the update through the GoodWe SEMS+ app or the SEMS portal. For detailed update instructions, refer to the official GoodWe documentation.
Can I install multiple GoodWe inverters?
No, Plug&Play with GoodWe currently supports only one inverter per installation.
How do I configure an older GoodWe dongle manually?
If your dongle has a production date before June 2025 (serial number does not start with 721XXXXXX), automatic configuration is not supported. You need to enable Modbus manually:
In the SEMS+ app, navigate to Settings → Communication settings → Privacy & Security
Turn on Modbus
Save the settings
Once enabled, continue with the commissioning wizard as normal.
Why set depth of discharge to 85%?
This protects the battery from over-discharging, which extends its lifespan. At 85%, the battery maintains at least 15% charge when on the grid.
How do I know if I have Version 2.0?
Check the production date on your dongle. Version 2.0 has a production date of June 2025 or later.
