Before you start

Before you begin, make sure:

The battery system is physically installed and powered on
The battery system is updated to the latest software version
You have access to the Sonnen Portal at https://finde-meine.sonnenbatterie.de

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Connect the battery to the network

Connect a shielded Ethernet cable to the terminal at the back of the battery
Verify the connection is established by checking the network indicator

2. Access the battery settings

Open the Sonnen Portal at https://finde-meine.sonnenbatterie.de
Log in with the initial password from the battery's data plate
Create your permanent installer login credentials
Log in as Installer

3. Enable API communication

Navigate to Software Integration
Configure the following JSON API settings:
1. Read API:enabled
2. Write API: enabled
Copy and save the API token

4. Discover the battery in the commissioning wizard

The battery is now ready for the commissioning wizard. The gateway will scan the network to find available devices, which may take a few minutes. Once complete, the Sonnen 10 battery will appear on the results page.

When the battery is detected, set the asset type to Battery from the dropdown.

5. Connect the battery to the gateway

After the scan completes and the battery is discovered, click Next in the commissioning wizard to proceed to the connection screen.

Enter the API token you saved in step 3
Click Connect to establish communication between the gateway and battery

The gateway will use this token to control and monitor the battery.

FAQ

Why isn't the battery appearing in the commissioning wizard?

Check that both the Read API and Write API are enabled. Verify you entered the API token correctly during gateway setup. Restart the gateway and wait for the network scan to complete.

How do I update the firmware of the battery?

The firmware update can be performed through Sonnen Portal.
For detailed update instructions, refer to the official Sonnen documentation.

Where is the initial password?

The initial password is on the data plate attached to one side of the battery. You'll use it on first login, then create permanent login details.

What if I have forgotten my permanent installer password?

Perform a factory reset on the battery to restore login using the initial password from the data plate. Refer to the manufacturer's documentation for reset instructions.

What is the API token for?

The API token authenticates communication between the gateway and battery. Turn on both the Read API and the Write API, then provide the token to the gateway during setup to enable bidirectional control and monitoring.
