Before you start
Before you begin, make sure:
The Siemens SENTRON PAC meter is physically installed and powered on
The meter is installed directly downstream of the grid connection point
If using a version other than 65A, you have an appropriate current transformer installed (see Additional Information)
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Connect the meter to the network
Connect an Ethernet cable to the RJ45 port on top of the Siemens SENTRON PAC meter
Verify the connection is established by checking the meter display
For network infrastructure requirements and troubleshooting, see Infrastructure requirements for the gateway.
2. Configure current transformer settings (if applicable)
If you are using current transformers for current measurement, configure the transformer ratio on the meter.
Select Settings from the main menu on the meter display
Navigate to
Basic parameters → Current inputsConfigure the following settings:
PRIMARY: primary value of your installed current transformer
SECONDARY: secondary value (typically
1Aor5A)
Confirm and save the settings
3. Discover the meter in the commissioning wizard
The meter is now ready for the commissioning wizard. The gateway will scan the network to find available devices, which may take a few minutes. Once complete, the Siemens SENTRON PAC meter will appear on the results page.
Additional Information
Current transformer requirements
All SENTRON PAC versions except the 65A version require an external current transformer.
Specifications:
Secondary side:
1Aor5AAccuracy class: Class 1 or better
For larger current ratios, use more accurate transformers (better than Class 1) as accuracy directly affects energy management performance.
FAQ
Why isn't the meter appearing in the commissioning wizard?
Check that the Ethernet cable is properly connected to the RJ45 port on top of the meter and that the meter display is active. Restart the gateway and wait for the network scan to complete.
How do I update the firmware of the meter?
Download the latest firmware from the Siemens website and perform the update through the device's web portal.
For detailed update instructions, refer to the official Siemens documentation.
What current transformer do I need for non-65A versions?
Use a current transformer with a secondary side of 1A or 5A and accuracy class 1 or better. For larger current ratios, a higher accuracy class is recommended because transformer accuracy directly affects energy management performance.
