Before you start

Before you begin, make sure:

  • The Phoenix Contact EEM meter is physically installed and powered on

  • For EEM-MA371-R and EEM-MA771-R models, the Rogowski coil is installed for AC current measurement

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Connect the meter to the network

All Phoenix Contact EEM meters have a built-in Ethernet interface (X1) with an RJ45 socket.

  1. Connect an Ethernet cable to the ETH (X1) RJ45 port on the meter

  2. Verify the connection is established by checking the display on the meter

2. Access the meter settings

  1. Open a browser on your device

  2. Navigate the meter's web portal

3. Enable communication via Modbus

  1. Navigate to
    ​Settings → Modbus

  2. Verify that Modbus TCP is enabled

  3. Save the settings

4. Discover the meter in the commissioning wizard

The meter is now ready for the commissioning wizard. The gateway will scan the network to find available devices, which may take a few minutes. Once complete, the Phoenix Contact EEM meter will appear on the results page.

FAQ

Why isn't the meter appearing in the commissioning wizard?

Check that the Ethernet cable is connected to the ETH (X1) port and that Modbus TCP is enabled in Settings → Modbus. Restart the gateway and wait for the network scan to complete.

How do I update the firmware of the meter?

Download the latest firmware from the Phoenix Contact website and perform the update through the meter's web portal.

Which models require a Rogowski coil?

Models ending in -R (EEM-MA370-R, EEM-MA371-R, EEM-MA770-R, EEM-MA771-R) require a Rogowski coil for AC current measurement. All other models use standard current transformer inputs.
