Configuration Guide for Commander 2

Before you start

Before you begin, make sure:

  • The charging station is physically installed and powered on

  • The charging station is updated to the latest software version

  • The myWallbox app is installed on your device

  • You have a myWallbox account and are logged in


Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Connect the charging station to the network

  1. Connect an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the charging station

  2. Verify the connection is established by checking the LED on the charging station or in the myWallbox app

2. Access the charging station settings

  1. Open the myWallbox app

  2. Follow the app setup assistant to add your charging station

3. Enable communication via OCPP

  1. Navigate to
    Settings (cogwheel icon) → External Management

  2. Configure the following OCPP settings:

    • URL: ws://:8180/ocpp, replace with the IP address of your gateway

  3. Save the settings

Your charger will restart automatically. An OCPP icon will appear on your charger's app overview screen.

If the OCPP settings don't appear, contact Wallbox Customer Service to check charger compatibility.

4. Discover the charging station in the commissioning wizard

The Wallbox Commander 2 connects directly to the gateway via OCPP and will not appear in the commissioning wizard scanner. After configuring OCPP, the connection is established automatically — no manual discovery step is required.


FAQ

Why doesn't the charging station appear in the commissioning wizard?

The Wallbox Commander 2 uses OCPP protocol to communicate with the gateway and does not appear in the scanner results. After configuring the OCPP connection settings, the charging station connects directly to the gateway without requiring discovery through the commissioning wizard.

How do I update the firmware of the charging station?

You can perform the update through the myWallbox app. For detailed update instructions, refer to the official Wallbox documentation.

Can I use WiFi instead of Ethernet?

Yes, the Wallbox Commander 2 supports both Ethernet and WiFi connections. However, Ethernet is recommended for more reliable communication. If you use WiFi, ensure both the gateway and the charging station are connected to the same network.

What is the OCPP URL format I should enter?

Enter ws://:8180/ocpp where is the IP address of your gateway device. For example, if your gateway IP is 192.168.1.100, enter: ws://192.168.1.100:8180/ocpp
