Daikin - Altherma 3 and Altherma 4

Configuration Guide for Daikin Altherma 3 (H HT, H MT, M, R MT) and Altherma 4 (EPBX10/14A, EPSK 06/08/10/12/14A, EPSX(B)10/14A, EPVX10/14A)

Before you start

Before you begin, make sure:

  • You have the Daikin HomeHub gateway

  • The heat pump is physically installed and powered on

  • All assets (Daikin HomeHub gateway, heat pump) are updated to the latest software version

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Connect the heat pump to the network

The heat pump connects to the network through its Daikin HomeHub gateway.

  1. Connect an Ethernet cable to LAN port on the HomeHub

  2. Connect the HomeHub to the heat pump using the two clamps X6A inside the HomeHub

  3. Verify the connection is established by checking the LED on the HomeHub

For network infrastructure requirements and troubleshooting, see Infrastructure requirements for the gateway.

Schematic showing the location of the X6A port

A direct connection between the heat pump and the HomeHub is required. The location of the respective ports on the heat pump can vary from model to model. Refer to the Daikin installation manual for details.

2. Access the heat pump settings

On the heat pump, navigate to Installer settings. If this option is not visible, Navigate to User profile and enter 5678 to unlock installer mode.

3. Enable communication via Modbus

  1. Navigate to:
    Daikin HomeHubAdd Daikin HomeHub

  2. Configure the following settings:

    • Use case selection: Modbus

    • Connection Type: TCP/IP

    • Smart Grid Support: Modbus control

    • TCP Security: Not encrypted

4. Discover the heat pump in the commissioning wizard

The heat pump is now ready for the commissioning wizard. The gateway will scan the network to find available devices, which may take a few minutes. Once complete, the heat pump will appear on the results page.

Indicate whether the heat pump's electricity is billed on a dedicated heatpump tariff or as part of household consumption. Heat pumps on a dedicated tariff are excluded from self-sufficiency optimization.

FAQ

Why isn't the heat pump appearing in the commissioning wizard?

Check that the HomeHub is connected via Ethernet and that Modbus is enabled (Connection Type: TCP/IP, Smart Grid Support: Modbus control). Verify you have entered installer mode (code 5678) and configured the Daikin HomeHub settings. Restart the gateway and wait for the network scan to complete.

How do I update the firmware of the heat pump?

Firmware updates for Daikin heat pumps vary depending on the model and current firmware version.
For detailed update instructions, refer to the official Daikin documentation or contact Daikin support.

How do I access installer mode on the heat pump?

Navigate to:
User profile

Use the right wheel to insert the number "5678". After entering this code, you will see the Installer settings menu option.

Why can't I find the Daikin HomeHub menu?

If you cannot find Daikin HomeHub as a menu item even after successfully changing into installer mode, your heat pump likely lacks the necessary minimum firmware version. Update the heat pump firmware and try again.
