Before you start
Before you begin, make sure:
The heat pump is physically installed and powered on
The heat pump is updated to the latest software version
ViGuide is installed on your device and you are logged in with your certified Viessmann installer account
ViCare is installed on the customer's device and the customer is logged in with the account that manages this heat pump
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Connect the heat pump to the network
Connect an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the heat pump
Verify the connection is established by checking the device display or in the ViGuide app
For network infrastructure requirements and troubleshooting, see Infrastructure requirements for the gateway.
2. Enable communication via EEBUS
EEBUS on the Viessmann OneBase cannot be configured via the heat pump's control panel. Use the ViGuide app instead.
Open the ViGuide app and log in
Navigate to:
Installation → Active device → Configure system settingsSelect Power limitation and tap Continue
Select the display type Touchscreen and follow the on-screen instructions to couple the app to the heat pump
When the Power limitation screen opens, select Yes to configure power limitation and tap Continue
Select Inactive from the consumption limitation options and tap Apply
Complete the configuration to save the settings
3. Discover the heat pump in the commissioning wizard
The heat pump is now ready for the commissioning wizard. The gateway will scan the network to find available devices, which may take a few minutes. Once complete, the Viessmann Vitocal heat pump will appear on the results page.
Indicate whether the heat pump's electricity is billed on a dedicated heatpump tariff or as part of household consumption. Heat pumps on a dedicated tariff are excluded from self-sufficiency optimization.
4. Connect the heat pump to the gateway
After the scan completes and the heat pump is discovered, click Next in the commissioning wizard to proceed to the EEBUS connection screen.
On this screen, click Pair to initiate the EEBUS pairing process
Accept the pairing in the ViCare app using the customer's account:
Navigate to:
Settings → Power limitationSelect the heat pump from the list
Tap Control unit pairing
Select the gateway from the Available devices in the network list — the gateway SKI (Secure Key Identifier) must match the SKI shown in the commissioning wizard
Tap Pair device to confirm the pairing
Wait for coupling to finish and verify the connection
FAQ
Why isn't the heat pump appearing in the commissioning wizard?
Check that the heat pump is connected via Ethernet and that EEBUS has been configured in the ViGuide app. Verify that the power limitation was set to Inactive during ViGuide setup. Restart the gateway and wait for the network scan to complete.
How do I update the firmware of the heat pump?
You can perform the update through the ViCare app or the ViGuide app.
For detailed update instructions, refer to the official Viessmann documentation.
Can I configure EEBUS via the heat pump's control panel?
No. EEBUS configuration on Viessmann OneBase heat pumps is not available via the control panel. Use the ViGuide app to configure EEBUS, and the ViCare app to complete the pairing with the gateway.
Why is the gateway not appearing in the ViCare control unit pairing list?
The gateway must be actively waiting for a pairing request. Make sure you have clicked Pair in the commissioning wizard before opening ViCare to complete the pairing. Both devices must be on the same local network.
