Before you start

Before you begin, make sure:

The charging station is physically installed and powered on
The AMTRON 4Installers app is installed on your device
You have the installer login credentials (created during initial commissioning)
The charging station is updated to the latest software version

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Connect the charging station to the network

Connect an Ethernet cable to the RJ45 socket on the charging station
Verify the connection is established by checking the AMTRON 4Installers app

2. Access the charging station settings

Open the AMTRON 4Installers app
Follow the instructions to complete the charging station installation in the App
Log in with the installer credentials (created during initial commissioning)

3. Enable communication via Modbus

Navigate to:
Settings → Network → External energy management
Configure the following EMS settings:
- Interface to the energy management system: Modbus TCP
- Energy management system: Active
- Safety current: 16 A
- SEMP interface: Disable
Save the settings

4. Configure phase switching

Navigate to:
Settings → Product Installation → General
Configure the following phase switching settings:
- Phase switching mode: Dynamic phase switching
- Phase change interval: Off
Save the settings

5. Discover the charging station in the commissioning wizard

The charging station is now ready for the commissioning wizard. The gateway will scan the network to find available devices, which may take a few minutes. Once complete, the charging station will appear on the results page.

FAQ

Why isn't the charging station appearing in the commissioning wizard?

Check that the charging station is connected via Ethernet. Verify that Modbus TCP is enabled in the External energy management settings and SEMP interface is disabled. Set the safety current to 16 A. Restart the gateway and wait for the network scan to complete.

How do I update the firmware of the charging station?

You can perform the update through the AMTRON 4Installers app or the web portal. To enable automatic updates, navigate to System → Update and set Automatic updates to Yes. For detailed update instructions, refer to the official Mennekes documentation.

What are the login credentials for the installer settings?

The installer credentials are set during initial commissioning of the charging station. There is no factory default—you created the password the first time you logged in.

What if I have forgotten the installer credentials?

Perform a factory reset on the device to restore the original factory state. Refer to the manufacturer's documentation for reset instructions.

How do I find the charging station if the app doesn't discover it automatically?

If the charging station is not discovered automatically on your network, connect your device directly to the local access point of the charging station. The access point details are typically displayed on the device or in the user manual.

Do I need to deactivate authorization?

Only necessary on software versions older than 1.5.0. If authorization is enabled, the gateway cannot start charging sessions. To deactivate it:

Navigate to:
Settings → Authorisation & Release → Authorisation
Set Authorisation mode to: Auto start
Save the settings

What firmware version supports phase switching?

Firmware version 1.5.0 or later is required for full phase-switching functionality. Versions prior to 1.5.0 are supported but have limited phase-switching capabilities.
